How to Exercise for Weight Loss Success

While nutrition is key to your weight loss success, physical activity is important as well and has great benefits that go beyond the scale (endorphins, anyone?). If exercise is not a common term in your vocabulary, that’s okay — you don’t have to be a triathlete to see success! Start small, whether it be going for a 15-minute walk at least once a day or reaching a daily step goal. Plus, with a wide variety of fitness programs available online, you can break a sweat and trim down without having to leave your home!

Healthy Tip: Get motivated to get active with a Step challenge, where you’re automatically a winner and get a share of the cash prize pot if you increase your daily step count by 25% over the course of 60 days!

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, incorporating exercise into your daily schedule can be challenging. Between family and work commitments, extreme weather temps, and sometimes having ZERO desire to workout, getting to the gym or a class can be more of a hassle than a benefit.

That’s where the convenience of at-home workouts comes in. You can work up a sweat with cardio, practice strength training, and mediate, all without having to leave the house. By eliminating the commute time, not having to stress about arriving to a class on time, nor needing to worry about hiring a baby-sitter, you have complete freedom to work out on your time. Plus, with unlimited access to over hundreds of workouts online, you’re likely to find a program you enjoy and that gives you results!

Online Streaming Services

If you’re someone who likes and needs variety when it comes to your workouts, check out online streaming services such as Beachbody on Demand and Daily Burn. You pay a monthly or yearly fee (less than your average gym membership) and have access to a wide range of workout programs that are accessible 24/7. It’s a great option if you’re dedicated to working out on a regular basis and looking to practice more than one type of workout program or interested in testing out different programs before committing to one. In addition, most online streaming services offer food and diet plans to accommodate their workout programs.

DVDs

While streaming online can be the most accessible, not all workout programs are offered on this platform. Amazon is a great resource to search and buy workout DVDs. Not to mention, there are a number of programs available to access online via Amazon if you’d prefer that over the DVD.

Workout Apps

You’re already on your phone all the time, why not get a workout from it? Fitness pros like Jillian Michaels and Tone It Up have apps that provide workouts available at your fingertips, along with nutritional support.

YouTube

One word: FREE! Maybe finances or slim or you don’t want to shell out money for a program you might end up hating. YouTube has tons of great options available and is perfect if you’re just starting out in your fitness journey and want to try out different exercises before making any cost commitments.

Pinterest

While you’re pinning those DIY projects you’ll “maybe” actually do one day, check out the exercise tips and workout programs featured. In addition to having a wide selection to browse through, it’s also another source to FREE workouts!

For those who either detest the gym, can’t afford it, or have difficulty getting to it, at-home workouts are an effective and versatile option to take advantage of.
